BYU mud show 2011

The Mud Show represents the end of a semesters worth of work, and more importantly the end of one thought and the beginning of 100 more.

Select Pottery Made in the Last Seven Years

These pots were part of my Portfolio prior to 2011. I tried to include as much diversity in technique as possible. These first four are all stoneware.

This pot was coil built with wheel thrown attachments.

This Pot was slab built with a wheel thrown top.

You can see that I have been working with the Inner Vessel idea for quite a while. It just keeps evolving.

The next 3 pots are all wheel thrown and pit fired. I created them with specially prepared clay that would crack while throwing and this would give the pot texture and sometimes the clay would even rip apart in places

The next three pots are Raku.

These next seven pots are Inner Vessel studies. All of these are Raku.

I accidentally stumbled upon a technique we called ghost willow. Latter I found that others had already invented it and it was officially called Naked Raku because the surface has no glaze.
