Russian and Indian Architecture

I found some photos of Russian and Indian architecture. Every building incorporated the onion dome in it one way or another.

Saint Basil's Cathedral is a showcase of medieval Russian architecture.

The art of Cindy Drozda
I have been creating finials the top of some of my more recent work. While I was searching for some
new ideas for my finials I came across Cindy Drozda's turned wood vessels.  These are amazing.

Cindy Drozda home and studio are in Bolder Colorado.

"My Vessels are shaped and hollowed on a lathe, choreographing pure classic forms with natural burlwood patterns to create a Sculpture with elegant presence
and a lively personality."

"
A hidden jewel reminds us of the treasure that life reveals to us when we
make the effort to look."

"I am pleased to share my life and my work with you through this website. I hope you will enjoy my artwork as much as I enjoy the creative process!"

The art of Rick Rudd

This work is all hand built with coil and pinch forming.  They have unusual forms and they have reference to function and yet they are completely non-functional.  This referencing of function is something that inspires me.

Rick Rudd was born in Great Yarmouth, England and trained at Great Yarmouth and Wolverhampton colleges of art between 1968 and 1973. In 1973 he arrived in New Zealand and since then has won numerous awards. He has exhibited throughout New Zealand and internationally. He has curated national exhibitions and has conducted workshops for potters’ groups and polytechnics around New Zealand, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Australia. He was president of the New Zealand Society of Potters from 1988 to 1991. His work is held in many New Zealand public collections and has been illustrated in several books.

The art of Matthew Chambers
I love that these are all colored clays.  The unglazed surface gives these a wonderful texture and the multiple pots inside of pots is something that I relate to with my own work.

Matthew Chambers is an English ceramic artist living on the isle of wight just off the coast of England.
chambers studied ceramics at the royal college of art, graduating in 2004. his work is born from a love
of geometric and constructivist art and executed in earth tone ceramics. each piece is a constructed
abstract exploration of shape and form that is made by layering many circular sections within a single
form. these forms are free standing and three-dimensional or wall mounted relief sculpture. the layering
technique chambers use is reminiscent of natural forms as well as technological lenses.
